> I have no idea how accurate the DM, but you don’t appear to understand what you are reading. That article states their profits are down based on an accounting adjustment. It has nothing to do with the NYT’s popularity or not.

all the references go back to [Reuters](http://www.reuters.com/article/newyorktimes-results-idUSL4N1D3456)if you bothered to research it.

And I don’t know if you understood what you were reading or decided to spin it but “accounting adjustment” was staff buyouts because they were losing money.

> Hell, even Trump has already abandoned his “stated agenda.” Front and center now is the big infrastructure plan whereby Trump can make even more millions and billions of dollars by [del]selling[/del] influencing contracts. Follow the money. That is the key to the Big D. Nothing else matters as much. If there are auxiliary benefits to the USA, it’s all good. But his own bottom line matters the most.

I’m sorry but are you seriously going to go down this path when Hillary and her husband (what’s-his-dick) were selling [del] influence[/del] speeches at $15,000 a minute? Virtually every penny of their 100+ million wealth is from influence peddling.

Trump doesn’t need the money and he’s forcing anyone working for him to sign documents forbidding such activity after they leave office. This is unprecedented.

You really think Trump won’t have real conflicts of interest that make the Clintons’ alleged and unproven dealing look like rank amateurs?

Trump has a lot of money, but people with a lot of money always want/need more. Why else would he be wanting to lower taxes on the rich? Anyway, It doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

> “In theory,” Donald Trump told The New York Times on Tuesday, “I could run my business perfectly, and then run the country perfectly.”
>
> That particular theory has a pedigree, and a specific name. It was popularized more than a century ago by George Washington Plunkitt, another flamboyant New York businessman and politician. He dubbed it “honest graft.”
>
> I thought of Plunkitt—a leader of New York’s Democratic political machine, Tammany Hall, in the late 19th century—as I read the transcript of Trump’s fascinating, rambling conversation with the Times. Trump seemed not just unconcerned about the potential for conflicts, but actually mystified by the notion that his conduct might be problematic. His questioners seemed equally baffled by his lack of concern. And that disconnect suggests that they’re not just arguing about specific acts, but about two very different theories of government, in ways that recall the politics of Plunkitt’s day.
> …
> “Nobody thinks of drawin’ the distinction between honest graft and dishonest graft,” Plunkitt said. “There’s all the difference in the world between the two.” He had no patience, of course, for dishonest graft—the embezzlement of public funds, the abuse of power for blackmail—which pitted politicians against the interests of the people. But that, he insisted, was the opposite of the honest graft he practiced, which helped guarantee of good government and the smooth functioning of American democracy. A politician who is loyal to his friends, serves the public, and profits from his service as a result? His interests, Plunkitt argued, are perfectly aligned—unlike those of politicians who advance only their own self-interest, or are loyal to lofty ideals, with little regard for others.
> …
> His thoughts on politics were recorded by the journalist William Riordan, with a little embellishment, and popularized as Plunkitt of Tammany Hall. It’s still in print. When I assigned it in college courses, students were frequently horrified—but then they struggled to explain just why he was wrong. It’s a challenge Trump may now pose to those Americans who disapprove of his approach to potential conflicts of interest. But Plunkitt’s political success, like Trump’s, is also a reminder that many other Americans have always found this brand of politics compelling.
> …

Donald is going to excel at honest graft!

You’re projecting your prejudice of wealth into the conversation. I know many people with considerable wealth who are philanthropic to the point they risked losing everything.

I don’t know if Trump is going to abuse his power but he’s already on record as making it difficult for his cabinet to do so. I also know Hillary extensively abused her position to acquire wealth and it goes back many years. The [Whitewater investment scandal](http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/whitewater/timeline.htm). Read the timeline of this scandal. It involves shady business deals by the Clintons and former political appointees. People went to jail and committed suicide over this and files disappeared, were prevented from being accessed or ordered destroyed by the Clintons. NONE of this was brought up my the main stream media during the election. It was as if it never happened. Many young voters are completely unaware of it and it’s just one of the many scandals.

I’ll say this again, the Republican party did everything they could to shut down Trump and the Democratic party did everything they could to make Hillary their nominee. Democrats made Trump the next POTUS. With few exceptions they could have randomly pulled a Democratic female politician’s name out of a hat and made her President.

Who is the thread’s op thankful for and why?

If Trump flushes twice he’ll be accused of wasting water. And that’s what the press SHOULD be doing but that didn’t happen this election.

As I’ve been saying all along, his personal bottom line is the ONLY reason he ever wanted to be President. Nothing else matters to him.

Trump has gone out the way to marginalize many of my friends and family. He’s not allowed to ask for their (or my) support until he makes a series of honest apologies.
