If you have such a problem with what you perceive as stupidity, you should remember that charity begins at home. For example, whether or not you admitted you were wrong has nothing to do with my question, which you have now ducked for the second? third? time. Shrug. I suggest you work on it.

Curious, is there a cite for this? That’s not been my impression. The protesters I’ve talked to or heard about have mostly been Baptists and/or evangelicals, but that could be a product of where I am.

>
> Either the pro lifers are so stupid that they don’t think grabbing and screaming is intimidating in which case someone should probably dangle a cookie in front of them and throw it so they go running off into the distance, or they actually are trying to control what women do with their bodies. Either way, if a screaming protester lays hands on me, no matter what their cause is, I’m calling the police. They have the right to assemble peaceably and they just messed up the peaceably part.

Anyone who can’t see why a woman on her way to get an abortion or, hell, an AIDS test would be particularly sensitive isn’t really getting it. Why not let JWs outside the children’s hospital, screaming that parents who let their kids have blood transfusions are condemning them to hell? Outside pharmacies, convinced everyone is heading in for Plan B or RU486? Hell, I’ve gone out for a pregnancy test in a blizzard and if a crowd of people told me I was a murderer I would have had a breakdown and/or started punching jaws.

But whatever. Sticks and stones, right? I think getting afraid or angry about abortion protesters is like getting mad over a guy licking his lips and telling you you have nice tits while you’re in the park with your baby nephew– lighten up! They’re just words!

Of course they’re not threatening to kill women who want abortions. They’d be killing an innocent fetus.

Which isn’t a very pro-choicy attitude to have. IMO, you should have the right to abort a pregnancy even if you’re just doing it for shits ‘n’ giggles. Even if you just got pregnant on purpose for the express purpose of getting an abortion. That doesn’t mean I can’t consequently consider you as a disgusting person, but it in no way gives me the right to remove that control from you. Is what I’m getting at.

Mathematically speaking, zero is not a prime. The other numbers do not consider it a number, although they do grudgingly invite it to…some of the parties. None of them threaten it, however, because zero is the most dangerous of numbers. Yes, even more dangerous than seven.

Thank God. I almost slammed my laptop down in disgust. I mean, _ **who** would actually call themselves **PRO** -abortion?_

I’m pro-choice, but I consider abortion a horrible, tragic waste to be avoided at almost any cost. I would hope most people on both sides of the issue do.

It’s like … what’s a good analogy? Maybe calling someone Pro-Murder Of Civilians, because they’re willing to tolerate a small percentage to achieve a greater goal. Or calling any Catholic apologist Pro-Pedophilia.

I mean, does anyone go around _promoting_ abortions? “Excuse me, miss, I couldn’t help but notice that you’re in the most fertile years of your life… could I interest you in a novel experience? It involves getting knocked up and then getting your womb vacuumed. I think you should consider it. Well, at least take a pamphlet.”

If you call me _Pro-Abortion_, then I’m going to assume you’re _Anti-Choice_ (and maybe call you _Anti-Life_ as well).

There are simply far too many people out there that pretend it is their business because they pretend to believe that abortion is murder and somehow “circumstances” make a difference. They don’t because it isn’t, simple as that.

eh, I think a case could be made that it is murder, and obviously I’m not the first to think so.

Also I think pretending it’s not murder is the whole problem, where we stand politically on the issue has nothing to do with the scientific realities of the medical procedure.

I always thought the best defense to a wackadoo screaming in your face that you’re murdering your baby would be to scream back yes I am! As it is my legal right to do so!

That’s telling em.

This is your typical MO. You say something stupid, someone calls you on it, so you change topics. Listen very carefully: What does clerical pedophilia have to do with the pro-life movement? You brought it up, so you should have some reason for connecting the two.

And my arguments goes thusly:

The vast majority of Catholics are pro-life.
Pro-lifers are Catholic in significant proportion.
Catholics are charitable.

…therefore a lot of pro-life are charitable, in direct contradiction with the claim “The pro-life movement doesn’t help the poor (while poverty leads to abortions)”

Got it now, dumbass?

I stand by my assessment, fucktard. Even if I grant your premises (a magnanimous act of generosity on my part), your conclusion is unsupported. It could easily be the case that some subset of Catholics are actively in the pro-life movement, while an entirely different subset are active in “charity to the poor”, and a third subset are really really into the “fuck little kids” thing. The mere fact that they share a religion means nothing.

Except it wouldn’t be true. It ain’t a baby until its born.

Besides, anti-abortionists don’t care about the fetus or the baby it might become for the most part, they either have some - er - wackadoo religious problem or they want women to “go back to their place, barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen”. Note that extremely few anti-abortionists pay the costs involved in bringing a pregnancy to healthy term, nor do they step up to adopt all of these babies they demand must be born. If a woman doesn’t want to continue a pregnancy, it is nobody’s business but hers and certainly not some random twit on the street.

As I commented in your prior post on gay people adopting, I don’t have a problem with gay adoption yet I’m opposed to abortion. What do I win?
I promise you that there are many pro-choicers out there who also harbor anti-gay prejudices. Anti-gay prejudice is still very prominent in this society, so of course you can find examples of people with these views if you look for them in any subgroup.

So what do you make of women who have placed children for adoption themselves because of their pro-life views? I’ve known enough women who fit that exact category and understand the nuances of emotion involved in adoption.
Of course, in most “protest” situations, you’re NOT going to find much nuanced debate. Go to a protest about the environment or healthcare or whatever and you’ll probably find the same.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that plenty of pro-choice people have family members with unplanned pregnancies, and unplanned births. I’m gonna even guess they help raise the child, and help support the mothers and fathers of those unplanned children.
