There’s a big banner out in front of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle giving kudos to their own Dr. Linda Buck, this year’s winner in Medicine.
Frankly, I’m sorta jazzed that there’s a Nobel winner’s lab right on my bus line. Yes, that’s as close to greatness as I get lately, the #70 downtown.

She’s obviously referring to Arafat. Anyway the peace price as well as the literary price are completely bullshit and have been so for many years. The only reason anyone notices is that they share name with the other noble prices, which still retain some prestige.

Mother Theresa’s saintly image has been tarnished quite a bit by her cozying up to fascists and criminals. Also there has been a lot of noise made about her specific charity being a fraud in which spectacular amounts of money was directed to the Vatican Bank while basic medical services for charity cases were neglected.
I dinna know much about it, to be honest.
I figured it was (at least partly) in reference to Theresa’s impassioned defense (to pre-O.J. Lance Ito) of banker Charles Keating, after he donated some of his stolen money to her charity.
