North Dakota.

There’s not really even any reason for the ‘anymore’.
Plenty of reasons to go to North Dakota.

1. It is the least likely place in the United States to meet Tom Cruise.

2. It is the least likely place in the United States to meet Britney Spears.

3. I believe the pattern has been established.

You make a compelling argument, but when the time comes for me to remove myself from modern society, I’m heading to Montana. It’s prettier.

Didn’t a lot of people use to go to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon? I don’t think they do that anymore.

I’ve got to go with Rhode Island. I’m sure Newport, and the rest of the state, is a lovely place, but if we are looking at raw numbers, Rhode Island, being about the size of my home COUNTY, has to rank at the bottom…
They may not have realized it. The reason that Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana don’t beat North Dakota for lack of tourism is that Yellowstone is at the corner of the three, so if people tour the edges of the park, they change states, technically.

Ah, but the roads do not go into the Idaho part. Unless you were on foot, it’s not likely you were ever in Idaho.

piffle. i’ll see your delaware and raise you… (_wait for it_) indiana!

alright we have some silly racetrack in the middle of a cornfield. the hell ELSE does it have? i’ll tell you: boredom. on steroids.

and don’t start with me about the colts. they were stolen from baltimore, remember? 😃
Hey, I grew up in Indiana! And lived there for 31 very long years! (And I try not to mention the Colts, because my husband used to live in Baltimore, and is still pissed off about that whole deal.) 😃

Ok, I take back my Idaho comment. Apparently everybody and their grandmother has been there. I had no idea it was such a hotbed of tourism. 😉

Delaware has some very nice museums set up by the duPonts .

My vote is for the state so out of it that none of you have mentioned it - West Virgina. Mountains and coal mines, what else. It doesn’t even have its own name. ND is Orlando compared to it.

West Virginia is known for tourism. Snow skiiing, hiking, camping, hunting, whitewater rafting. Boating, swimming, water skiing, fishing, and legal beer drinking in cars 🙂

Actually my corporate headquarters is there so I unfortunately end up visiting about once a year for 3 days or so. It does suck a lot though, luckily it’s very small.

Delaware wins this thread, no contest.
Visit the parking lot of Total Wine on Naamans Road and you’ll change your opinion. As long as Pennsylvania maintains its Stalinist alcohol distribution system, Delaware will always have a purpose.

On the more touristy front, Rehoboth Beach attracts its fair share of visitors every summer and Dover brings in the NASCAR crowd.

For me it would be a tossup between North Dakota and Nebraska. Interminable to drive through. ND has a bit of interesting topography in the west, but that’s about it.
