rental cars with a honk-honk for locking and opening doors is another one that bothers me …
once in a while i will have a tourist park on my street…i
have been known to leave a note on the car asking people to please use the manual locks when in a neighborhood …

My father was a psychophysiologist, and when I was a teenager, playing my stereo too loud (the volume was at 3), he’d come into my room and ask, “Do you know how many hair cells on your basilar membrane you’re killing?”
Now, I sleep wearing ear plugs because I can’t stand the normal night noises…even those I make when rolling over when I sleep.
And add me as one of those who don’t have to have constant background noise; in fact, I hate it. Give me quiet and I’m happy.

A friend of mine owns a gadget that will remotely turn off any public TV.
