Maybe not “bitchy” exactly… but i absolutely hate the new Audi commercial. The snobby-asshole couple compliment the homeowners’ art, but are aghast when they learn that the homeowners don’t know how valuable the paintings are (they found them in the attic and just hung them up just because they liked them _GASP_). Then homeowner looks at the Audi and says “new car? pretty cool”… you know, because since he doesn’t know all the window sticker stats off by heart he must be a complete buffoon. Who is this commercial marketing to? Complete snobs that only buy things because they are a status symbol? … well it is an Audi commercial, so maybe that _is_ who they’re targeting. ---

I think the gag is that even folks who don’t realize various paintings are priceless masterpieces still realize the Audi is a remarkably valuable item. (It’s maybe not as clear in this commercial as the one I’d seen before, where the guy is letting his dog chew on a Honus Wagner autographed baseball but is honestly impressed by his neighbor’s car.) ---

When I saw the title of the OP, I thought of the commercial for the calling plan mentioned. It’s like they see a niche in selling products to people trapped in loveless marriages. Another one that hasn’t been on in a long time was for a real estate firm where the husband is worried that they can’t afford the house and his wife freaks out on him while the agent calms them both done via speaker phone and convinces the husband to buy the house. If I know the real estate market in America, I’m sure that ended well for them. ---

Maybe “bitchy” doesn’t quite fit (and nobody can beat the OP’s example anyway!), but I thought of this thread last night when I saw the commercial with the guy who shows up at a business meeting carrying – wait for it – _a pad of paper and a pen!_ Oh my GOD, what a luddite!! All of his colleages with iPads mercilessly berate the crap out of him. “Sorry I’m late, I was in the 14th century looking for Pete’s pen.” Hahahahahaha!!! Pete’s reaction is to go on eBay to buy his very own iPad, and I was thinking, he should instead be going on [monster.com](http://monster.com) and looking for a job where his co-workers aren’t all total assholes.
