**All in the Family.**

Maybe not _every_ episode, but Archie usually wore a white button down shirt and black dress pants while Mike typically sported a blue denim-type button down shirt and jeans. I don’t recall Edith or Gloria sticking to the same outfit.
mmm

Maybe in the 1970s, Castiel was inhabiting the body of Detective Columbo, and decided that he liked the look. 😉

Comparison: [Columbo](https://durnmoosemovies.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/chev3.jpg) and Castiel.

Some small changes sometimes, but since each season is basically one long day…
They do change season to season, tho.

John Constantine from the TV show always wears a rumpled trenchcoat, too. He also has a loose red tie and leave the top button on his shirt unfastened.

And, to bring that full circle…Castiel’s look was intentionally patterned after the comic-book John Constantine. 🙂

> Each of the Doctors in _Doctor Who_ had their own personalized outfit, which they wore in every episode (Tom Baker changed his slightly partly through his run). Some of the companions did, too: Adric, Jamie McCrimmon (his kilt, at least), Nyssa, and Ace, for a start.

Agreed, and it’s been used as a kind of clue in the new Who seasons: David Tennant tended to wear his brown suit when travelling back in time, and his blue suit in the present or future. Matt Smith may have done something similar with the colors of his bowties, though it doesn’t seem to be as consistent. And recently (staying vague to avoid spoilers), Peter Capaldi switched from his more contemporary outfit to his first, more classic one after plot circumstances made that appropriate.

On “The Big Bang Theory” the guys all wear variations of the same outfit:

Leonard with the hoodie and jacket
Raj with the t-shirt, button-up shirt & sweater vest
Howard with the turtleneck (actually a dickie), button-up shirt, tight colourful jeans and belt buckle
Sheldon with the t-shirt over a long-sleeve shirt

…I always wondered how damn cold it is in California because they’re dressed in so many layers.

Even the girls have their own signature looks: Bernadette with the full skirts and tight knit sweaters and Amy with the long, frumpy skirts, high-necked blouses & cardigans. The only character with a range of outfits is Penny.

> _The Adventures of Superman_. The actors all wore the same clothes so that all scenes from multiple episodes could be filmed on one set (Perry White’s office, for example) before moving to another set. That way all the scenes looked consistent and could be spiced into the particular episodes they were intended to appear in.

**My Three Sons** similarly, because Fred MacMurray’s contract allowed him to film multiple episodes of his shots all in a group to minimize his studio time.

**Bonanza** did it so their collection of outdoor/location shots could be used in any given episode.

There are a lot more than I thought. Like My Three Sons. Never noticed that one.

I knew Columbo’s raincoat, of course, but I guess I figured he wore different stuff underneath. He did take it off once in a while.

The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.

Brisco always word the same outfit - unless in disguise. Blue shirt, red kerchief, light brown pants and jacket.

As in Happy Days, in one scene they showed his wardrobe as he was changing and it was all the same items.
