# Non-partisan things that may soon become very partisan

Used to be that SCOTUS nominations were mostly nonpartisan (Scalia and Ginsburg were confirmed by the Senate 98-0 and 96-0, respectively) but now it’s a 51-49 thing.  
I think the NDAA defense bill (which still sails through the Senate with ease every year) may soon follow suit. Same for Cabinet appointees.

What else might?

Ginsberg faced a lot of critisim or a talk she gave on _Roe_ sometime before her nomination. It took a lot of effort from Mr Ginsberg to stop that from derailing her nomination, he called in a lot of favours. And she had to make a fairly definative statement as I recall.
