Ok, http://www.seriouswheels.com/2008/def/2008-Dodge-Challenger-SRT8-Front-Burnout-1024x768.htm that little black air dam that runs all the way across under the front bumper? Hang it from that. You don’t even need to support the bottom of the plate, just find a way to attach the top two screw holes to that air dam. The plate can flop in the breeze, so to speak, so that if you do scrub a curb or a speed bump it will just swing out of the way.
You could use something like Gorilla Wire fishing line. It’s black and very, very strong.
At the track on Friday, I instructed a student with a 2006 Challenger SRT8. It’s a beast. Huge, powerful, heavy, but it handled surprisingly well for its weight. And power out the wazoo! With some R-compound tires and racing pads it would have been amazing, except that it was an automatic.
But it sort of confirmed my sense that even though there’s something exciting about tons of power in a muscle car, on the track a lighter car is more fun. (And I say this as someone who went from a Miata to a 3,400-pound 350Z.) You can improve the suspension on a muscle car so that it can handle corners better, but that doesn’t really make it a *sports *car. Just a relatively nimble muscle car.
