[ul][li]Sliding between cool, crisp sheets in the summer, or, in the winter, soft flannel ones and just feeling the peace of getting into bed (I love my bed, it rules.)[/li][li]Taking that first bite of _really_ good food and letting the taste just simmer down into your tongue.[/li][li]Looking at someone you love and feeling that contented peace.[/li][li]Walking into your home after being away for a long time.[/li][li]The attention your cat (or dog, I suppose) gives you when you see them. Mine are the absolute greatest little critters…[/li][li]Finishing a really big task. I mean that moment, that very last one, where you can close the manual, shut off the computer, whatever, when you can stand up and let out the \<_sigh_\> of completion.[/li][li]A good massage. Not to be confused with ham-handed mushing of skin and bone, but a real, deep application of pressure and technique that just gets into every nook and cranny. If I’m asleep by the end, that’s a good sign.[/li][li]The sound, the minute **crunch** , of powder under my skis, the mountain sloping away from me with the valley floor hidden from sight as I observe the world for 10’s miles around me and prepare to make first-tracks.[/li][li]Laughing with friends. If it’s a great belly laugh or even a smiling snicker, that relaxed feeling of joy in laughter.[/li][li]Telling my parents (and my sister) that I love them. I take every opportunity to do this, just to make sure they know, even though I’m not around.[/li][li]Doing nothing, by choice. Having the ability to just…be. Not having to do or say anything, but rather just exist in the moment and to be able to appreciate that.[/li][li]The feeling of the sun on my face when I go outside. You know, the “turning your face to the sun” thing. That is nice.[/li]A good cup of hot chocolate in the winter. Mmmm…[/ul] ---

The point in the (usually) late-night, long-running conversation where you realize that an acquaintance has just become a friend. Just after a good gaming session has ended, and I’m looking over the miniatures, props, papers and soda cans remaining on the table; I’m always astonished, overwhelmed, proud. “Wow. We just did all that.” During a thunderstorm, when I realize that both my dogs are within inches of me, because they’re afraid of the thunder, but they’re sleeping soundly, because I’m nearby. The indescribable place that you can only reach by playing a musical instrument. A good album on headphones, a new brush, and a bunch of interesting miniatures to paint. Happy to be a complete gamer geek. The moment I open a thread, and find out that someone has actually enjoyed, agreed with, or even noticed a post of mine. 🙂 ---

Nice non-sexual feelings: Giving myself a pedicure The cat kneading my leg Sleeping in a real bed Bath, as hot as I can stand it The pitter patter of rain on the roof My dog’s face and waggy tail Acing a tough test Clean fingernails and scrubbing my whole hands with the nailbrush Freshly brushed teeth Really strong coffee Green tea with honey Real letters Phone calls from friends Holding the bunny and patting her bunny head Hair falling gently out of a bun Uninterrupted reading Looking at my bookshelves, and finding space for more books Popping my neck, back, fingers, and toes Taking the scenic route to class Parking in the “faculty lot” Finishing the laundry Crushing aluminum cans Company approved overtime Filing important documents Picking green beans and watching my carrots grow _Are You Being Served?_ on an eight hour tape (all night) Cooking for me and sharing with the cats Coloring with my new colored pencils Filing my nails Pouring peroxide in my ears and belly button Getting a magazine in the mail Fast boards ---

A cat licking your fingers. Brushing someone else’s hair. Cuddling on a hammock. A good song turned up, air conditioning, and a long stretch of highway. Taking off socks. Soft kisses. Being still. ---

The feeling you get when you realize that after the long conversation that lasts all night, that person isn’t just a “friend” anymore. 🙂 Eating strawberries/blueberries/blackberries when they are at the perfect ripeness- sweeter than anything, but not yet mushy. Riding your bike down a small hill when there is no threat of cars, letting go of the handlebars, and letting fate steer you. ---

Practicing a song for ages and then finally giving it one full run-through and you completely nail it, the music just flows like magic. Getting mail from Gunslinger. Cool sheets and a warm blanket. The soft, worn cotton of the quilt my mother and I made together. Having someone bring you chicken soup when you’re sick. Drinking a glass of sweet tea in the shade on a hot summer’s day. Taking a corner so fast that you’re right on the edge, yet still totally in control of your car. Running barefoot through the grass. Fixing something on my car and doing it right, without having my father hang over my shoulder to criticize me. Getting a compliment. Making my little brother and sister laugh. “Just because” voicemails from Gunny. ---

I’ll be the second to mention those first few steps after taking off the ski boots. Skiing through a long steep turn so fast that I’m teetering on the brink of disaster, but manage to pull through.
