Who’da thunk it? Here in Aust the action might also be described as “razzing”, because raspberry has too many syllables. ---

It’s a “Bronx cheer” in parts of the US. ---

The closest I can come up with for Spain is _hacer [pedorretas](http://lema.rae.es/drae/?val=pedorretas)_ or _hacer una pedorreta_ (lit. to make farting noises). I find references saying that in Mexico the expression is _[hacer trompetillas](http://forum.wordreference.com/threads/to-blow-a-raspberry.86289/?hl=es)_ (to make a noise similar to that of a very cheap trumpet). ---

No term for it in Japan. We don’t make that kind of noise here:cool: ---

In Afrikaans (at least, the Afrikaans of Cape Town in the 70s) it was called ‘gaan [going] “_welah_”’ because people generally didn’t make the “pbbbt” farting noise when sticking out the tongue, but more of a “llll” kind of sound. This has noticeably changed with kids today, what with the pervasiveness of foreign media. But I have no idea what it gets called now by the yoof. ---

Growing up in Michigan we simply called it “sticking one’s tongue out at another.” Even when making the raspberry noise. I was probably in my late teens when I realized what “blowing a raspberry” was. ---

It can also be done, with ensuing hilarity, against the bare belly of a small child 🙂 The ‘raspberry’ refers to the noise rather than the action. See #7 ---
