Live in London, England (not actually the lovely Claxby Pluckacre, which is a gen-u-ine place in Lincolnshire). Born in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea in the very hospital - St Mary Abbot’s - where, not 11 short years later, Jimi Hendrix was pronounced dead (pronounced “dead”). But parentage 100% Irish; they came over in 1956 with my older sister in tow. ---

English lived various places but now in Argentina, don’t know of any other dopers in the southern cone. ---

Swede in Sweden. There are at least two more of us, **Charlie Tan** and someone whose name escapes me at the moment. **Iteki** lives in Sweden but is Irish by birth, but then again I don’t remember seeing her around lately so she might have left us. ---

Just a heads-up to readers who have yet to post: if/when we get 50 non-USA unique posters to this thread, I’ll post a summary by country. That ought to provide some thumbnail clues as to where the concentrations of non-USA Dopers are. If/when we make it to 100 unique responders, that should be an even better sampling. The point: to be counted, please reply. ---

If I remember correctly, Gorillaman is in Ipswich (South East England) and Lobsang. is on the Isle of Man (between England and Ireland). I’m in Canada, but I can see the States from here, about 17 miles away. There are at least two other Vancouver Island dopers, and a gaggle (throng?) in teh greater Vancouver area. Dang Easterners. 😉 ---

I know we have a decent number of Montrealers, a few from Western Canada ( **featherlou** and **Larry Mudd** among others), a small Mexican contigent, at least two from Tel Aviv, and of course **Paul in Saudi** in Saudi as well as the still-sizeable UK/Australia group, plus **Nava** in Spain and **clairobscur** in Paris. We also have an American **flodnak** in Oslo, Norway. **MostlyClueless** , **Maastricht** , **gum** and **Coldfire** are all from the Netherlands IIRC. We also have Swedes, Finns and Danes, some of whom got into a heated argument here about Sweden recently. I myself am from the United States, but I speak Spanish, live two hours from the Mexican border, and watch soccer and Australian football. Does that count? 😃 ---

Dang Easterners. 😉 [/QUOTE] You have stated in no-uncertain-terms something I have begun to appreciate: Canadian Dopers (in many cases) are geographically closer to “home base” (Chicago) than many USA Dopers. Certainly those further south than me. I have read or heard that some huge percentage of Canadians live less than 100 (maybe it’s 200) miles from the USA/Canada border. Once you drop below the 100-200 mile range from Chicago, that puts us Southerners and Southwesterners further away. Just had to verbalize this. ---
