I am always up for meeting new people. I’m staying in the Temple Bar area (I know, I know. From what I hear, that was touristy move number one). If any of y’all are free next Wednesday night, that’s when I’ll be in Dublin. Also, if any of y’all are really good with bikes, I might be able to use an extra set of hands putting my bike back together.
I’ll also be in Dublin for a couple of days at the end of my trip (I’m going to meet my best friend in France for a day or two).
My e-mail address is in my profile. If anyone’s interested, I’d love to be in contact.
PS - Do y’all get the Simpsons over there? I don’t really watch much TV, but I plan my classes at school around the Simpsons (that sounds horrible, but it’s true).
there are a few nice pubs near Temple Bar, off the beaten track, Mulligans is a great spot if you want to drink where the locals drink. No obnoxious stag or hen parties there to wave plastic boobies in your face. If the Dublin Dopers meet up, we could all dress in leprechaun outfits and shout ‘Begorrah!’ every few seconds, that way we’ll blend right in
Well it sounds like you know exactly what you’re doing. Can I suggest that you go by Glendalough and visit Kilkenny, if you hadn’t already planned to do so?
I actually met today with someone here in Charleston who just spent 6 yrs at University College Dublin for Med. School, and he suggested Glendalough. I’m going to try to make it there. It’s a little out of the way, but maybe I can find a way.
I am going to Kilkenny. That’s when I cut across the south: Avoca, Kilkenny, Cashel, Mallow, Kilarney (I think that’s the order, I don’t have a map in front of me).
Seriously though ;), what is the legal (and social) status of marijuana in Ireland? I’ll not be heading that way anytime soon, but if I do come I’ll want to fit in.
Peace,
