North Korea: A speaker in every home

Oh, and the movie states that the speakers can be turned down, but not off.

I hear the guys who made that movie have excellent contacts within North Korea, having been doing business and running tours there for years, and are some of the very few Westerners to be well-trusted by the leadership. Thus, I wouldn’t be surprised if they got quite a bit more freedom than your average filmmaker there would. Bonner, in particular.

It’s a very cool movie.

They have very open conversations with the North Korean families they talk to. The families were obviously pre-picked by the government, but the interviews were about as candid as you can get.
