The other day, I realized how much I miss paper wrappers on straws that were loose enough that you could shoot them across the table at your brother. The wrappers are so tight nowadays, it actually takes effort to extract your sipping utensil. What other minor things out of the past do people miss? ---

I remember the gas heater at the top of the stairs in the old cold house. I used to perch there and read for many, many hours. I used to make toast holding it against the burner with a fork. I spent quite a lot of time living in Tolkien’s world there. ---

I miss those little candy dots (“buttons”) that were stuck on to rolls of paper. I haven’t seen those since I was a little kid on New York. ---

Plastic spoons that you could stomp on and produce a satisfying BANG with little shards shooting across the floor. The ones they have now just bend no matter how hard you step on them. ---

Years _before_ the internet, there was a flavored peanut butter called “Google”; it came in flavors like chocolate, cinnamon, banana, etc. God, I loved that stuff! My fave after-school snack when I was in middle school (circa '74) was a piece of bread spread heavily with Google! ---

The plastic lids were dark brown, tan, yellow and blue respectically. I loved that stuff. ---

I just got a fun dip from the ice cream man this past summer. They’re certainly not gone. And the buttons might be called something else now, but I’ve had those as recently as 5 years ago, at least. I’m sure you could find them in a regular store if you looked hard enough. ---
