No refutation. The lack of any continued claim. The former presumed an etiology, one that has not been borne out by research since which has instead demonstrated strong genetic predispositions and a variety of other factors other than hypoxic events (for which there has been no evidence).

Plausible? Of course. Supported by any evidence at all? No. Evidence has gone in other directions.

BTW back in the days of oxygen in incubators having visual problems from too much oxygen given t premature babies (retinopathy of prematurity) was not so uncommon. It took a while to realize the oxygen was too blame.
