> Given that we’re having a child, we don’t have $135-200 to spare _for something we might not really need anyway._ The shot has to be shotten within like 3 days of the birth, so it’s also a matter of not having the dough to spare when the bill comes due.
> I mean, if there’s no pressing need to spend it, why spend it?

What’s your wife’s opinion? Did you come here to gather evidence to convince her to skip the shot?

Most of us have given you our opinion. I agree that life is uncertain & the money seems like a wise investment. If you’re so eager to get a vasectomy, why have you waited so long? Remember, vasectomies cost, too.

Your amusingly absolute certainty there won’t be future fetuses aside, find out what the CASH price of the shot is and set that aside or ask for help from family. Looking online I see it runs anywhere from $120 (at Planned Parenthood) to $170 and I’m willing to bet members of your families give enough of a damn to help w/ that amount.
I’m glad to see you say this baby’s doing fine so far; a third or fourth m/c is something my mind can’t comprehend coming back from, especially if I knew the last one was b/c my husband said we couldn’t afford a shot.

Do you have health insurance? If so, is it not covered?

Your wife should have the shot.
