I know it’s obviously to do with personal preference, but sometimes I see people who put all their infor up e.g. gender, D.O.B, religious views, city etc. but they leave out sexual preference. If you’re straight, why do you do this? I always think in the back of my mind that they must be hiding something lol. ---

Perhaps they aren’t using the site to hook up with sexual partners, so it’s irrelevant. My Facebook profile doesn’t give my sexual preference, but does say I’m married. Since I’ve ben happily married for more than 30 years, my sexual preferences should only be of interest to my spouse. ---

What are the English terms used on Facebook/Myspace? I looked at a page on the German version of Myspace recently and noticed the person stated “Hetero”. Personally if I had a myspace page I’d balk at stating that - some people might think this was a perversion. (A friend of mine recently got funny looks when admitting to be a philologist) ---

Doesn’t Facebook say something like “Interested in: Men/Women”? I don’t fill it out because it makes it sound like I’m available when I’m not. ---

I didn’t even have my gender on there, until I got fed up with Facebook referring to me as “them.” And not all of us use Facebook as a site to meet people. Er, lol. ---

I had to go check mine. It says I’m married but I didn’t fill in the preference box. I guess I figured it would be obvious, and dating is not the reason I joined facebook anyway (I was asked to join a book club there). It would be weird to announce my orientation as if anyone cared. ---

Do they have orientation up? Before it was just what you were interested in–I know a guy who said men and women on the basis that he was interested in them both, as friends. And I know another guy who had up that he was into men but took it down because the guys hitting on him freaked him out.
