So-and-so was a bitch, and I wanted to tell her to her face that I thought so, but instead I wrote it down in the pit, which was a far more prudent thing to do. I didn’t realize when you flamed someone anonymous that everyone comes out of the woodwork to nitpick, and then makes judgements based both my lack of providing details, and also their assumptions based on their own experiences(because they can’t know what the actual reality was because I didn’t say). But now I know, and I’ll make sure to write a dissertation next time so that you all can make more accurate judgements as to whether or not I have the right to call a bitch a bitch. ---

Am I to understand from your OP that you are soon to become a notary public yourself? Or was that just you blowing off steam? 'Cos if you are an impending NP, you will probably soon be privileged to experience the joy that is a standing order to “drop everything” when your boss wants a document notarized. You routinely go to these women, order them to drop everything and notarize something for your boss. I don’t know what your manner or tone is when you do this in real life; I do know that, in this thread, it’s come across as pretty rude and obnoxious. I’ve been over half my life now. One thing I’ve never cared for is people who expect me to immediately stop whatever I’m doing and look after them, especially if what I’m doing is something which can’t easily be interupted or looking after someone else who also believes that they are The Most Important Person In the World ™ and that their needs come first (this actually happens in my current job far too often). If I routinely dealt with someone coming in, demanding I stop what I’m doing, and see to him, sooner or later I would get to the point where I’d had enough and I might even tell him he had to wait which he might well interpret as being rude. My take on it is, if you’re routinely rude to me, and expecting me always stop what I’m doing so I can take care of you _is_ rude, then, while my own ethics don’t entitle me to be rude back to you, they do entitle me to arrange things so I don’t have to deal with you or find a way to get you to behave in a more acceptable manner. In other words, based solely on what I’ve seen of you in this thread, you were rude to them many times; is it any surprise they were rude back to you? If it’s your boss putting pressure on you, believe me, I understand. My last boss always wanted things last minute and right away, especially if he’d procrastinated, and he’d take it out on me at times. That didn’t mean I could treat the people I dealt with equally badly or take his mood on them. I found a slightly apologetic air and the use of the phrase, “You know what he’s like” went a long way. If anything, something along those lines should give you more and more willing service than what you’ve been getting. Look, I realize you’re new here and the Pit does look like a marvelous place to blow off steam. It isn’t. What it is is a good reality check. Sometimes, you can be convinced that you are absolutely, positively in the _right_ only to find out that not only are you not in the right, you’ve been making a real fool of yourself. This may be one of those times. If it is, while I realize it may hurt like hell, read the advice, think about it, and even think about following. Despite what some around here will tell you, no one gets to be in the right all the time. ---
