It’s tough. My grandfather has always been a really outdoorsy kind of guy. I would’ve thought that when he no longer had a garden or workshop, he would sort of give up and fade away. Not so. I’m glad he didn’t. Then he lived in an apartment for a while, but his health (and his wife’s, who has dementia) got so poor that both of them had to be placed in a nursing home. I thought he’d give up then. Nope. He’s had numerous health crises now, including a stroke. He seems to have adapted to the nursing home and still will tell anyone who asks, “I’ve had a pretty good life.” I don’t think I’d want to be in his place, but I admire the man’s tenacity. He takes a lot of killing, and he has a good attitude. Of course, his mind’s still fairly sharp too. I don’t know how I’ll end up, but I hope I can face my fate like he does. Mrs. Furthur ---
