When I was in college, one of the rock stations in Kansas City used to play this song every Friday at 5 to kick off the weekend.

This song represents the weekend to me, because it used to be the theme song to a Saturday Morning Kid’s Show in New Zealand called _What Now?_.

Something I’ve been known to say on Tuesdays.
I actually got to see the Kings play in a club, back in the late 1980s. They were good, and deserved more exposure than they got. Still, they made the crowd happy, and sure enough, finished their set with an extended version of “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ to Glide.”

There was a San Francisco radio station that used to play The Toyes’ _Smoke Two Joints_ every Friday afternoon. It’s not really explicitly a “weekend” song based on the lyrics, but due to that association I always think of it as such.
