I’m a morning person (sorry), but last Friday some son of a siphilitic ogre was using a grinder outside my window at 7am (the “made by Dewalt” variety, not the “coffee” variety). It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been up, it is always too early for noises like that. There’s people who shouldn’t be allowed to leave the house without their minders… ---

The place where I go to get my haircuts keeps tracks of their customers by phone number, and their preferred haircut. I can just imagine if I ever give up the phone, somebody walking in there and them giving them the same kind of haircut I get. 😃 ---

I just beat my Beloved Butthead to death with a rubber spatula. I’ve given up on cooking food, but I’m really good at opening cans and cutting stuff up to make stuff like chicken or tuna salad. I noticed today that we were out of containers and asked him about it. Its because he eats his lunch and tosses the reusable containers into the trash. Oh wait, he’s moving, I need to go and beat on him some more. ---

Problem is, there are a LOT of collection services out there. I never answer the phone when it’s a) out of state, b) an 800 number, or c) an unknown caller. But sometimes it’s a 503 number (Oregon), and we usually answer those, given my wife’s volunteer work. ---

Those things are expensive! Oh, he was tossing those ziplock containers. Fairly cheap and not really durable, but dang it, they are reusable. That’s really our biggest point of contention. I’m a tree-hugger. He never stops to think about our poor landfills. ---

At first I thought it’s not too bad if he’s chucking them into the recycling bin, but then I remembered that some states don’t have recycle bins (at least no Blue Boxes in the hotels I’ve been to.) I fully approve this pitting. Maybe make him pay the long dollar and get those glass containers, he won’t want to throw those out! ---

Two things today. 1. I hate that most of the women that post on the mommyboards are crazy. I can’t go on another pro-vaccine campaign without completely losing my wits to these dingbats. But it’s taken away my place to ask for advice about baby things. I feel isolated and I don’t like it. 2. Which brings me to my next minirant. I would put this in the workplace thread but it’s more me than them. It’s employee review time, the time where I spend the majority of the time calling myself worthless and wondering if they’ll fire me even though I’ve been getting mostly good feedback. ---

I’m currently in San Antonio, Texas on a business trip. It is **the same** temperature here as it is at home in NH. Seriously, within 1F. I feel like we’ve been lied to about the west and south having nicer weather ☹ ---

Apparently some people are completely unfamiliar with Chinese food. Walked over to the Leann Chin in the transit station after getting off the bus. Unpleasant little couple walks in ahead of me. Knew it would be trouble before I followed them in. Yup. Apparently these people had never seen Chinese food in their lives. Guy was at least familiar with fried rice and asked for some - until his wife pointed out there was no meat in it. Then he asked for Shrimp. The server pointed to the shrimp stir-fry. No, wanted plain shrimp. Took up a lot of time walking back and forth and not ordering anything. Woman finally asks if they have salads. Yes, the prepackaged ones. She asked for one, he didn’t want anything, came to $8.08 and they were pissed but took it. As she walks out, she mutters “This better be worth it”. They got right back on the freeway. I assume they’d pulled off at the exit on the other side and went to the first food looking place they could see. Thing is that all the fast food places are a quarter mile down the road in the shopping area. They just, you know, would have had to look in that direction. Still. in late 2014, I have encountered people who apparently had never seen Chinese food. That… takes effort. ---

In between temps last approximately 10 (ten) days each year. Los Angeles (where I used to live, she said bitterly) has nice NICE weather.
