Now Arizona proposes letting states decide Presidential candidate eligibility

They may as well add a rider to include that all Presidential candidates must provide proof that they really did have that bunion on their ass in 1968, that they weren’t AWOL from their National Guard tour and that they did everything they could to save Mary Jo Kopechne before they’re allowed on the ballot … with an additional clause having them spell “potato” aloud.

It won’t work. The Arizona Secretary of State, Ken Bennett, who is a Republican, has already gone on record saying that he opposes this bill, and if it became law, he has no doubts about Obama’s citizenship.

You just know what will take place.

The yahoos will demand that the Secretary of State be removed from office as he is not saying or doing the “correct” thing.

Great. Let the right wing whackos turn on the Republican party. Force the GOP to denounce its nut fringe.

What’s scary about this proposed law is that it fits perfectly with the mindset of some Republicans: “The Truth is what I say it is”. As I’ve said in previous posts, in a democracy it’s indispensible that the losing side gracefully submit. If this passes, I’m worried that what’s up to now been mostly posturing and pandering to the fringe might actually turn into a scorn and defiance of the democratic process.

Thank God it’s not the South for once.

Glad ta meetcha! Liver’s the name, bein’ chopped is the game!

And verify that they can see Russia from their porch.

You don’t remember the yellow cake memo lies and outing of Valerie Plame when the Democrats blamed Bush, Cheney and Rove? Ha!! It turned out not to be proven true to the same standard that they now want for the birth certificate of Obama! Ha! Or that the Bush administration ignored warnings about Osama determined to attack and then had the gall to assert that Bush read the Aug 6 memo and understood it! Ha! That was just as big a lie until it came out it was true! Ha! Or that markets don’t always correct themselves and need government regulation! Ha!! That turned out to false too! The Great Depression eventually ended and proved that! Ha!! And that Wall Street was making tons of money off the 08 collapse! That’s a poisonous lie that the Democrats use to try to re-regulate banks! Cept it’s true. Ha!

Don’t hold your breath. The nuts are very much in charge of that asylum.

Well, once we get NOBAMA’s (certain to be forged) certificate of Double-Secret-Non-Muslim-Birth we’ll need to get to work on that who “lizard from outer space” question.

He’s obviously going to need an MRI on a bi-daily basis. However, since we know such tests can be faked by those reading the results we’ll need someone both trustworthy and capable of reading the results. Someone with both medical and legal training. Someone who clearly owns stock in companies that manufacture hydrogen peroxide (you know, since space aliens are allergic to it, and it also works kind of like a tinfoil hat to keep out the brain control waves).

Who can we possibly find to fit that role?

Arizona wants Obama to show up there so the police can roust him for not having immigration papers on his person. Then they can deport him.

Wouldn’t that be hysterical? Surely there is probable cause. I wonder if the Secret Service would shoot a policeman trying that.

ETA: Isn’t a black man speeding though a neighborhood in a fancy car enough to warrant a stop?

This was one of the issues raised during the Birthers’ accusation. Most states leave blank spaces for the established parties and run whoever the parties nominate. That means that a non-eligible person can run on a ballot for president and the states won’t stop them. E.g. Roger Calero and the states of Delaware, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont. Note that he was NOT allowed to run in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, and Washington which I guess are Birther-psycho states for requiring people to be eligible for the offices they run for.

Oh, one more thing. Arizona is such a birther state that they have already said that Obama’s birth certificate would work for eligibility.

What quirk would you propose reversing that would make such a proposal unconstitutional?

I mean, the proposal is politically distasteful, but there’s nothing procedurally wrong with it.

Pretty much.
