So I went to the mall tonight to get a haircut. I asked for it shorter and tapered. Little did I know how industriously the stylist would perform his job… My hair is short. Really, really short. Extremely short. So short that the non-hair-covered portions of my head look swollen. My hair is a bit longer on the top, though, except for the bald part, which is much more apparent. :smack: At least no-one will recognise me on the street. And I get to see what my the shape of my head is like, so I can judge whether my plan to go completely bald when my hair thins enough is a good idea. (I refuse to be a Combover Charlie.) I still have to go to work, though. And the gym. And shopping. And to see my friends. And I may put off my plan to start dating again. :: head in hands :: At least I got a free toaster oven tonight. There was a deal on at a booth selling subscriptions to the _Toronto Star_, and the toaster oven was one of the giveaways. An attractively-plump middle-aged South Asian woman convinced me into it. I already get the paper every day at the newsstand, and the lady assured me that this time the delivered papers wouldn’t be stolen out of the apartment lobby; they would be placed outside my door inside the building. I _am_ a sucker for curves sometimes… 😉 ---

At least it will grow back… eventually. I had a similar experience once, loosing the hair, but mine did not involve curvacious asian ladies, but burly finnish divers. Every year our diving club at the university have our friends from Finland over for a week of diving, the so called Findive. But unfortunately I had my master thesis to hand in that same week, so I couldn’t participate on the Findive. Anyway, that year the finns had made cool caps instead of t-shirts with a cool logo, and when I arrived at the farewell party, I wanted a cap too. So in a happy somewhat drunken concensus they agreed that I could get a cap if they got to cut my hair. And during that party I got my hair cut to 1mm and I got me that cap. I really regreted it the next day because I looked like a convict. Luckily I had a cool cap to wear for the next month or so :rolleyes: ---

That’s quite the coincidence! I went for a haircut last night, too (along with my two sons). My hair is already short, though, so at least I already knew how bad I was going to look afterwards. How do you feel about wearing a stylish fedora on dates? And not taking it off? ---

A few months ago I went to the barber and told him to take the half-inch shears all about my head and then even it off… it was the quickest and best haircut I’ve had in quite a while. Went and bought a couple of [fedoras](http://www.hatsinthebelfry.com/page/H/CTGY/fedora_hats) and pretty much changed my look. For the better, my wife thinks. ---

We both used to have long hair in ponytails, and one day we happened to wear nearly-identical clothes. [/QUOTE] Well, I am changing my look [sub]but not like this, dammit[/sub], but I think becoming a hat-wearer would require greater changes. Fewer sweaters, more sport jackets, maybe. At least I have a long black wool coat and a nice green scarf (so soft!) instead of the number-two crapmobile parka for moderate cold (down to about -10 or so). ---
