Now listen up, all you sons of bitches. It's Lake America now

I posted this in the cluster coninues thread about 20 hours ago.

I learned the HOMES mnemonic in elementary school in Virginia.

I saw a response on Facebook to this debacle. A user said he was renaming his toilet bowl to “Lake Trump”. I heartily endorse that idea and will do the same.

Hah, I was under no illusion that I was the first to think of that. It ain’t exactly a stretch.

joke already made need glasses

Megalomaniacs gotta megalomanic

But why for do he pick on that puddle previously called Ontario?
Why didn’t he decree that Lake Superior should hence be Lake America?
Bigly lake. Huuuge lake. Trumpian name.
Appropriate a much bigger slice of aquatic real estate.
Cause Canawegians even more indignation.
Help more with trade negotiations.

It just makes more sense.

Stupid Man Hates Every American

It’s pretty much this.

FTR, I don’t believe the name will stick. Also, as a former sailboat owner, I cruised the Great Lakes and the names mean a lot to me. There is no way the Orange Asshole has the power to change the name of a lake that crosses international boundaries. But when has that ever stopped him before from taking illegal actions? And what does this ridiculous “executive order” even mean, outside of the US?

Agree, since roughly half of it belongs to Canada.

The name would be more appropriate for Lake Michigan, since 100% of it lies within the U.S.

Oh, I agree. I was referring to the petty name-changing nonsense.

That’s Michigan’s Lake, dammit. (Yes, I know we have to share.)

It doesn’t mean anything outside the US, but it might mean something to people who publish maps in the US.

I mean, i can call the lake i caught frogs in as a kid, “frog lake”, whatever name you call it, or maps call it. He can try to get US mapmakers to change what they write. I’m curious if they’ll submit to this. Personally, I’m gonna refer to lake Ontario, so people know what i mean.

Kinda like how in Chicago everyone calls The Willis Tower Sears Tower. (So we recently learned.)

No, we have the cool sunset side while the cheeseheads have the crappy sunrise side. Indiana and Illinois don’t really count with their puny beaches.

I jest, but I’m also kind of serious. There’s nothing wrong with local pride. Michigan is a unique state just like all the other states. Ontario is a unique place. Our geography matters and it’s annoying to me that Trump wants to lump it all together as America.

Absolutely nothing. I doubt very much that the rest of the world’s non-American cartographers will be changing their maps at all, in the same way they did not change anything when Trump renamed another body of water early in his second term.

Changing the name of a shared body of water unilaterally, especially because the head of one of the parties is pissed that he’s not getting his way with the other, is childish and stupid. The rest of the world cannot be blamed if they ignore yet another of the toddler’s tantrums.

I just wish more people in the US would ignore his temper tantrums.

Shouldn’t that be Trump D.T.?

It’s Lake America not Lake Ontario now,

Lake America, not Lake Ontario now,

Why did Lake Ontario get the works?

That nobodies business but the jerk’s.

I call the river that runs thru my county, “The Ol’ shitty”. Spoiler.. it’s the Ouachita River.

A county or two over is Calhoun county. Locally called “hog skin county”.

Yeah it’s what folks do who live around certain places. Woe upon you if you make fun from another location.

Trump can call things anything he wants. It makes little difference.

If I was a map printer I’d stop production. Do people still use paper maps, except the map nerds?

Agreed. I have felt that way for over a decade regarding Trump supporters, and especially unapologetic MAGA supporters.

If a person is merely a Trump supporter, I know they are some combination of deluded, ignorant, stupid, and/or venal. If they are also a MAGA supporter, I can add racist and hateful to the list.

With the hats, bumper stickers, yard signs, and T-shirts they out themselves with various tells. Now they are adding verbal tells, like Gulf of America and Lake America.
