You (understandably) misunderstand prosecute’s statement to mean fauci was referring to an ex when prosecute twitted about lil X. Prosecute was actually referring to fauci’s son [X Æ A-12](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/12/15/elon-musk-claims-son-lil-x-was-followed-by-crazy-stalker-jack-sweeney-faces-legal-action/). While I feel it is OK to throw anything at all at Elmo, he’s a big boy after all. I find it dubious to carry his South African heritage after him. He’s done so much other dumb and despicable stuff I think it is deflecting from the real issues: - Using his oversized social media presence for crypto pump&dump BS and other market manipulation. (This is plainly criminal) - cheerfully overpromising on every parameter of any project he’s ever been involved in. - a pathological need to be the “founder” of every company he bought, transparently lying to alter history. - dubious treatment of minority and female employees. - manipulating public opinion to sabotage (high speed) rail to sell more cars. - using his status/money to harass everyone who criticizes or exposes him. (Latest example @elonsjet) ---

I agree, but I don’t think his South African origins are being used to ridicule him, but rather are being used in a more analytical sense to try to understand some of his weirdness, like his racism and perhaps misogyny and affinity for far-right extremists. But I’m willing to entertain simpler explanations. Perhaps Elmo could take inspiration from fellow South African Trevor Noah, who wrote an autobiography titled _Born a Crime_. Elmo’s bio could be _Born an Asshole_. ---

I have no problem with people bringing up his South African origins (as long as they get their facts straight, like _where_ his dad’s emerald mine was and _which_ White South African culture he’s from). But nobody ever points out that he’s also half-_Canadian_. ---

Elmo himself was born and raised in South Africa by his mother and South African father. He spent two years in Canada between the ages of 18 and 20 attending Queens University before moving to the US and eventually settling in California. In what sense is Elmo – culturally or in any other meaningful sense – in any way “Canadian”? The title of Trevor Noah’s book comes from the fact that due to his mixed-race parentage, his birth itself was illegal under the apartheid Immorality Act. Perhaps that environment and culture affected Elmo a great deal more than the happenstance of his mother’s birthplace. ---

[Musk sold $4 billion in Tesla stock this week](https://www.axios.com/2022/12/15/musk-sells-billions-tesla-shares) Agreed to buy Twitter for 3x is valuation in April, then proceeds to sell Tesla for less than half what it was worth in April. Had he sold those 22 million TSLA shares in April, it would have netted him about 8 billion. And had he waited until now to buy Twitter he might have gotten it for 16 billion, and might not have needed leverage to do it. This is the guy they’re calling a genius of some sort. ---
