I’m sure Elmo greatly enjoyed changing the derogatory label from “70%” to “69% government-funded”. Which apparently means something so important that Elmo feels it needs a special label. Yet nowhere does Elmo see fit to provide any hint of actual CBC governance policy, which **[by law grants it complete independence from Parliament](https://cbc.radio-canada.ca/en/vision/governance/programming-policies/introduction)**. Elmo still considers any form of publicly-subsidized broadcasting as exactly equivalent to the state media of authoritarian regimes with a modern-day Joseph Goebbels in charge. As distinct, for instance, with truly independent media that can be relied on for accuracy and objectivity, like Fox News and OAN. Or, in short, Elmo has his head so far up his ass that not even a glimmer of daylight can ever penetrate. ---

Radio Sweden has left Twitter. They claim it is because the audience has moved on, but one has to wonder how much this also has to do with Musk’s assault on public news media. Maybe nothing, but the timing is suspect. ---

Thanks! Elmo fucking with the CBC hits closer to home than his fuckery with NPR, PBS, and the other public broadcasters, and pisses me off even further because I’m certain that Elmo is totally unaware of the statutory protection of editorial independence provided under the Broadcasting Act. ---
