Yeah, same here on reddit. Started happening a couple months ago, but within a few days some kind redditor posted that you could go into your settings and disallow people following you, which I promptly did. ---

A lot of what Musk has done since he took over Twitter has been bewilderingly counterproductive, but this? Tanking the well-known brand (no matter how tarnished by his own actions) for something as generically vague and useless as “X”? That’s beyond insane. ---

He’s been making noise for a while about a generic catch-all app (social media, online banking, etc) app he wants to call “X”. It’s already the name of the corporation - Twitter is the platform but he switched the company’s name a while back. It’s hardly the first time he’s used it. His first venture was [X.com](http://X.com), which was later rolled into Paypal. He’s borderline obsessed with the letter for reasons I do not know and have very little interest in discovering. I wonder how far this has to go before someone can make a legal argument that Elmo has abandoned the trademark to Twitter and launch their own platform with that name. ---
