It’s both, of course If it gets traction, clearly he was being serious If not, only idiots would think he was being serious. Shrodinger’s social media post. It’s whatever he wants or needs it to be depending on context. And all the while, people keep engaging with him and making him feel important, which is the real win. ---

Apropos of nothing: I think he’s creepy and grubby looking based on his “fuck off” temper tantrum/appearance. He looked like he hadn’t showered in a while. Though, I suppose if you’re going to behave like a slob you may as well look like one. ---

To be fair, this is largely the point. If he says something dumb that he gets dunked on for he can launder it as “just trolling.” If he says something dumb that people like, then obviously he was being serious. It’s a symptom of being incapable of telling what is dumb and what is smart. ---

Incapable of telling which, or incapable of caring which? From our POV as the public the appearance is the same. In terms of what it means for Elmo’s future trajectory and what that does to the rest of us, it might matter yugely. ---

It actually did work. And could work. It would likely work better now, using a computer to time the rocket ignition (which is what cause the crash in testing). But Elmo is still an idiot. 0-60 in under a second is almost top fuel acceleration. (a top fuel 0-60 is like 0.6 seconds. What is that? 7gs?) ---
