A number of prominent “white dude” politicians are involved in raising money for that group (including Pete Buttigieg and a few governors) as well as Jeff Bridges and JJ Abrams. Oh, and I particularly liked that Reid Hoffman, a billionaire who tried to fund Nikki Haley as a challenger against Trump in the primary, was also involved and donating money for Kamala. ---

I wouldn’t be surprised if their system is set up to give extra weight to reports from blue checks and/or specially flagged sycophant accounts. If enough of them get triggered and need twitter to be a safe space again, poof, automatic ban. ---

They seem to be claiming ban evasion, which doesn’t make any sense at all, and apparently it’s the same reason they used to justify banning the guy who leaked Elmo’s whitelist of people allowed to use hate speech. ---

I think something different is going on - the fundraising has been going out under @dudes4harris, which was briefly banned - and it seems like the ban was meant for the copycat account @dudesforharris, which is up but which has protected its tweets. In any case, the real account is back up. ---

So, either incompetence on the part of the Twitter team to mix up accounts (attributable to Elmo’s inept firings/handling of the staff) or deliberate malice (because Elmo is an unrepentant ass)? And it’s hard to tell the difference? Yeah, that tracks. ---
