The link mentions the latter, but it sure looks like a Twitter scammer. If on Twitter, I’d probably report it, after calling them out for a bit. It very much seems to be making itself out to be the real Elon, but we know his own account. And that would be a legitimate indication of impersonation. (Putting the check in the pic is pretty obviously scamming. That would be something I’d have Twitter scan for automatically.) ---

It’s on twitter. I link to Bluesky here because it renders pics fairly well. Also some people don’t like to click twitter links. I’m not sure what the scammer thinks he’s up to. The timeline looks like a fan account at present. ---

On very little reading, the lawsuit seems to be based on the theory that all of the advertisers have formed a cartel to get people to not purchase their product, which I guess may be a cause for action? Unless Twitter has smoking gun emails, the defense of many companies independently deciding to not advertise on a platform that forces them to look like they support abhorrent ideas seems pretty easy to support. ---

IANAL, so not sure. I’m guessing maybe restraint of trade? We don’t allow companies to conspire together to set prices, so conspiring to not purchase from a corporation is not to much of a stretch. The hard bit is going to be showing the conspiracy, when there was a lot of public pressure on companies to do what they actually did (stop advertising). ---

I would think they would all individually have the right not to advertise on a particular site. If this “cartel” were actively blocking others (say, key suppliers) from also advertising there, we’d start to approach an argument. But even that would be a stretch. ---
