It was a recurrent low-level controversy with poster Huerta88, who looks to have been posting around here for about a decade. Here is a [long Pit thread from 2006](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/huerta88-your-handle-hurts-you/358344/) (that devolved quickly) started by Bricker of all people and with a lot of push back from various posters, but also others acknowledging that it was a known issue and did influence perception.
