Well, you see, a mile is based on the length of a thousand strides, but that’s of an acient Roman soldier. Now, if a Roman centurion has been bringing in his chariot for a lot of warranty repairs, his stride will naturally shorten due to the “Accipit Ubi in Fasciculum” effect (as he “gets his undies in a bunch”)…

An article I was pointed to made an interesting observation: Trump’s tariffs remove the only leverage automakers had to force foreign countries to hew to American anti-“jailbreaking” laws. IOW, if they’re tariffed anyway then there’s nothing left to hold over them:

> The Trump tariffs change everything, including this thing. There is no reason for America’s (former) trading partners to continue to enforce the laws it passed to protect Big Tech’s right to twiddle their citizens. That goes double for Tesla: rather than merely complaining about Musk’s Nazi salutes, countries targeted by the regime he serves could _retaliate_ against him, in a devastating fashion. By abolishing their anticircuvmention laws, countries around the world would legalize jailbreaking Teslas, allowing mechanics to unlock all the subscription features and software upgrades for every Tesla driver, as well as offering their own software mods. Not only would this tank Tesla stock and force Musk to pay back the loans he collateralized with his shares (loans he used to buy Twitter and the US predidency), it would also abolish sleazy gimmicks like hacking drivers’ odometers to get out of paying for warranty service:

> >
> > He noticed an “abnormal spike in average daily miles driven,” despite having a “consistent driving routine” that involved “a short commute to work and occasional visits to the gym and local restaurants.”

> You know, I had actually seriously considered buying a Tesla at one point. Not now and not for the foreseeable future. I have lost all trust and confidence in this company.

Yanno, when I take my non-Tesla in for repairs I often notice mileage spikes. Because the guys at the shop drive the car to observe the problem in action, then again afterwards to verify the fix is good.

Now to be sure, that’s an extra 10 or 20 miles, not 200 or 400. I don’t know what magnitude the lawsuit is complaining about, but if somebody usually drives 5 miles a day but only some days, a 20 mile service visit could really mess up that week’s stats.

I assume (and got the impression from reading the article) that the lawsuit is complaining about fallacious mileage spikes (induced by nefarious Tesla software) while the owner is solely in possession of the car.

Because if the owner is complaining about mileage spikes when the vehicle is at the shop and potentially being driven by the mechanics to diagnose the problem, then that would be completely idiotic (on the owner’s part).

Well, the gist of his claim is that his daily average went from 20 miles a day to over 70 miles a day, soon putting him over 50k miles when he bought it at 36k. So, yes, for his typical daily routine.

And if those miles were all put on by the mechanics, they’re lousy at their jobs (and hiding the evidence).

I thought that Teslas had extensive logging about where they had been driven. I would think that those logs could be compared against the odometer to check for discrepancies. If there is a mysterious 50 miles/day difference, then that should easily show up.

I just popped back into see if Elmo’s adventures in Path of Exile 2 streaming had been brought up. I stopped keeping tabs on this thread about 2,000 posts ago; bluntly it was just too fucking depressing watching boy apartheid becoming an actual danger to the future of democracy in America to want to keep tabs on his latest bouts of insanity. Even more so when this country in an act of collective insanity chose to reelect TFG and put the both of them in positions to do real, lasting damage to the country.

But in the interests of enjoying his schadenfreude, here’s a 2-minute video that covers it in all its glory.

> **[Elon Musk Exposed by Real Gamers While Streaming](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaLx7KLxtcE%2F)**
>
> Elon Musk was bullied by real gamers during his Path of Exile 2 stream which was a test for Starlink. The CEO of Tesla sat stone faced while people messaged ...

His reason for the abrupt end of the stream was his Starlink connection failed, he didn’t rage quit. Personally, I don’t know which sounds worse for him.

For added context, his delusions that he is some kind of guru gamer are not something recent. He’s been dunked on by the gaming community since at least 2022 when he tweeted his Elden Ring build, which is an utter steaming pile of garbage:

>
> Elon Musk @elonmusk

If you google “elon musk elden ring build” and look at videos, you’ll be greeted with a slew of videos with titles like “I played Elden Ring with Elon Musk’s TERRIBLE Build” “I FIXED Elon Musk’s TERRIBLE Elden Ring Build” “I beat Elden Ring with Elon Musk’s AWFUL Build” “How Bad Can Elon Musk’s Elden Ring Build Be?” “Beating Malenia with Elon Musk’s Terrible Elden Ring Build”.

His tweet is even funnier if you’re familiar with Elden Ring. If you’re not, saying “if fast roll is needed” with that build is kind of like saying he’ll install brakes on a Tesla if braking is needed for some reason that he can’t quite fathom.

Much longer than that. He apparently has delusions that he was one of the top Quake players all the way back in the '90s, a claim which has been dispelled by actual top Quake players back then who remember playing with him and thinking that he was OK but not that great and that he had a habit of blaming his computer when he lost.

Maybe it was a “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” situation. The mechanics added a bunch of miles joyriding in the car. They tried to roll back the odometer, but they didn’t realize it doesn’t work to jack up the car and run it in reverse.

Speaking to the whole Elon baby momma thing, not just the quoted post.

ISTM he’s looking at this exactly like the owner of a prize bull or racehorse stallion does.

The theoretical number of offspring from a single ejaculation is … huge. The animal breeding industry has this down to quite a science.

Musk wants to hire wombs by the thousand; not meet women by the dozen. Better to have MAGAt- or musk-besotted volunteer wombs than to pay retail. Retail’s for plebs.

I once dated a man whose idol was Bob Marley, not for his music, but because he had 11 kids with 8 different women, and didn’t support any of them, not even the ones he had with his wife. He also said he wanted to be reincarnated as an inner-city black guy, so he could impregnate and abandon women without consequences. I replied, “Who said you had to be that way to do that?” I also suggested that if he was that gung-ho about siring children that he didn’t have to support, to go to a sperm bank, and he actually said he’d considered that, but it didn’t involve having intercourse with the women, so what was the point? No, I never had sex with him.
