After learning that (supposedly) not only was Musk aware of the “Elmo” nickname bestowed upon him by Twitter employees, but that he absolutely _hated_ it, I started using it. It’s much easier to type than other insults, and it has the bonus of being G-rated. Apologies to the fuzzy, kind Elmo. ---

Leon (well, actually “Leon’s”) is a big furniture and appliance store around here. It’s the founder’s family name. The only thing (unintentionally) funny about it is the terribleness of their commercials, as befits such places. It’s the sort of place where the owner often does late-night TV spots himself, declaring that his prices are so low that “he must be crazy”.\* They don’t actually do that but it’s the same level of stupid. \* There’s a cute cartoon that riffs on that sort of ad. Guy walks into one such store and says “the store across the street, whose owner does not claim to have mental health problems, has lower prices than you do.” ---

ETA: @wolfpup 3 posts up. I’ve told this story before but where I lived 20+ years ago there was a yummy but snooty French bistro named _Chez León_. They took themselves _very_ seriously. One of my very irreverent friends insisted on calling it Cheesy Leon’s. In his slightly crazed delivery. I still can’t tell this story wo a big involuntary grin while I’m typing. RIP Andy; you were one of a kind. ---

On my idiot congressman’s FB page, there is a new troll that calls people “Trotskyites”. Now that’s a term I’ve not herd in a long time. A looong time. Is this troll like 90 years old? I’m not even sure the people he’s attempting to insult would get it. He wold be better served sticking to “commie”.
