I left Twitter on the day the transaction closed. During my kid’s high school sports career this was a bit of an issue as the idiotic Athletic Director used X to communicate schedules, lineups, bus departure and arrival times and awards recipients. Someone created a Facebook group that shared the tweets/xits as messages where the preview was enough to get all the information we needed. But since graduation I haven’t seen the need. Though our town Police, Fire/EMS and Highway department using the UNOFFICIAL town Facebook page, controlled by a right-wing local business owner effectively as the communication medium for all things is really fucking annoying. If I want to know if the road to the town center is closed, I need to see posts about Crooked Joe and bathroom panics. ---

My town largely communicates through Facebook and Twitter. Now that I’ve deleted Twitter, I’m dependent on that, but I’ve also announced I’m dropping that as well. Unfortunately I do need to be able to follow some town functions, so I may end up setting up a fake account that only follows those groups. ---

I wonder if companies leaving Twitter, especially in certain industries, would invite threats and retaliation to their employees similar to what Target went through during Pride last year. ---
