Portman’s been playing the nudity game for too many years. There was always talk about how she might do a nude scene in her upcoming movie but it never happened. So her onscreen nudity was a big topic because she made it so. Jessica Alba’s now playing the same game and, like Portman, will probably do a nude scene at some point and then act all shocked because her nude scene gets more attention than the rest of the movie it’s in. I think the honest thing for any actress to do is make a decision early in her career on whether or not she’s willing to appear nude. And if she is, she should go ahead and do it. That way those people who want to see her nipples or her ass can see them and for the rest of her movies she’ll be judged by her acting talent. And if she decides not to appear nude, she should just drop the subject and not hint that she almost did a nude scene or might appear nude next time. ---

And speaking of Rose McGowan, another person who picked a really weird film to strip for is Jodie Foster who IIRC (excluding the rape film) has only shown skin in some straight to cable shitfest called Catchfire, or Backtrack, or something else, depending on which copy of the video you buy, apparently. If you like Jodie Foster, though, it has a pretty decent shower scene for no apparent reason. And no, that was supposedly her older sister in Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane. And they’re adding Natalie Portman’s nude scene as a “bonus” with the film, \*after \* she expressed remorse for doing it? That’s kind of shitty isn’t it? ---

[/QUOTE] The short film is already readily available on the Internet (and not just underground websites). Wes Anderson can do what he wants with the film–it is his, after all. And the short is actually a prologue (of sorts) to _Darjeeling_–both she and Jason Shwartzman play the same characters in both and their story continues from one to the other (though she has nothing more than a brief cameo in the latter). When I say _DL_, there was a clip that said “Insert Short Here” and showed a brief clip from the short along with the website where you could watch the whole thing. So she may regret having made her choice, but that horse has left the barn and she can’t reasonably expect Anderson to just pull the film out of viewing circulation for her (not that she’s remotely suggested he should, mind you). ---

It’s not some strange “maybe I will, maybe I won’t” game like Portman’s playing. I think Jessica Alba is telling the truth when it comes to her reasons. ---
