I’d be perfectly willing to be outraged by the NRA seeking to suppress free speech. I’d even readily believe in examples of that without taking due care to ensure they’re true, I’m _that much_ of a reactionary. That said, this thread isn’t really doing it for me. ---

Yeah, it is a kind of, “How does that make You feel, libtards, when we propose limiting an amendment we don’t care about in a not-really-analagous way to the way our strawman conception of you doesn’t care about the 2nd Amendment?” Want to study the way media coverage affects shooting deaths? Ok, knowledge is good. Why don’t we also study the way gun proliferation affects gun deaths? Because, yanno, knowledge is good. Whoops! Hit a wall there, didn’t I? ---

I for one doubt the NRA seriously wants the media to stop reporting details of school shootings because as long as the media continues reporting details of school shootings, the NRA will have something other than gun culture to blame for school shootings. ---

I’ve been an NRA member for 20 years and also value the other amendments, especially the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th and 10th. I would join the ACLU if it would fight to protect the 2nd amendment like it does the others. I think a free press is invaluable. Watch how you paint with that broad brush. ---
