My left big toe was numb. For 2 weeks. Yeah I know, I know. I’m diabetic from birth(nearly) Gotta watch those feets. I didn’t tell anyone because I didn’t want the berserkitude that I got. I was advised by a reputable source “you need to tell” or “don’t, go ahead and get a foot cut off”. As I figured, Ivy turned 3 shades of blue. The lil’wrekker screamed “Oh, Mother!” I promised we’d bring it up this morning. And as I thought. They went psycho. I was promptly sent to the foot doc. He feels around and asked me did it hurt? I say “No, it’s numb, don’t feel nuthin” He shook his head. Scratched his chin. Decided x-rays weren’t necessary. Thank god, I’m beginning to glow in the dark. He says it’s out of joint. And it should hurt. Oh, p’shaw. I pointe danced. I danced on out of joint toes. Not a thing. Used to pop em back in myself. But…he’s worried. So I get a shot in the big toe. He said this may hurt. Nope, it’s numb. Then yank. Pull and pop. Toe’s back in place. All better. Ok. I get home. Deadening shot is wearing off. Two weeks of pain and throbbing. A shot. A yank and a pull. I felt them all at once. Ouch! I mean OUCH!! When I walked in the bathroom to do my secret things I felt every step. When I went to eat dinner my toe throbbed under the table. (Side drama, we had chicken salad tonight 'cause it’s so hot. We argued who would load the dishwasher. Ivy told them I couldn’t. Thanks, Ivy. She quickly rescinded that when the lil’wrekker upped the ante bringing up her hip surgery. Why don’t we use paper plates for chicken salad was my only thought. I told Ivy she could do the dishes.) My toe is throbbing now. I’d call Ivy but she’s kinda perturbed with me. Apparently housework is not in her contract. I swear she’s asking for it. I’m gonna can her any minute now. But, but I need a pain pill and I don’t wanna walk. What can I do? Dang. “IVY!!” ---

Call her anyway. That’s what she’s there for, and besides, nursing beats houseworking any day. I have never suffered a dislocated anything aside from a painfully dislocated wallet, but I understand it smarts some. I don’t know how much it hurts after it’s popped back into into place, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable will wander by. Hope you’re out of pain pronto! ---

I did. She was sickeningly sweet about it. Looked at my toe and said it’s turning blue. I took my pill. I think I’ll live now. ---

Maybe it was pressing on a nerve or something, causing it to go numb. I’ve had that in my hip before. ---

I have neuropathy in both of my feet that causes either numbness or shooting pains or burning or itching on any given day. Numbness is the best, unless I stub my toe and can’t feel it. That happened quite a few years ago. I stubbed my toe, and a few days later I lost the toenail! All these years later I still only have half a toenail. So, I (sorta) feel your pain! ❤ ---

Or it could be no circulation to the toe. If they’re sure it’s just bruising, that’s one thing. If there’s any question about it, that’s another. ---

It’s just bruising. No swelling or lack of movement. It’s better this morning. No throbbing. ---

As bad as it is to have temporary pain and bruising, as @Rebo knows, persistent neuropathy world be worse! Mr. Legend can’t feel most of his feet until he stands on them for more than ten minutes or so, when they just hurt. He’s been warned not to go barefoot, and I spend a lot of time making sure there’s nothing sharp on the floor, because if he cuts a foot, he doesn’t feel it. I’ve been nagging him to get a podiatrist for years, but the idea of adding yet another doctor to the phalanx he has already is just too daunting for him. In short, I’m happy you got your toe back! ---

I’ve been warned to not go barefoot, too. Screw that. I can’t wear shoes without misery. I wear flip-flops, unless it’s 50 degrees or less. ---

I’m from Arkansas. Of course I go barefoot. I’m careful. This disjointment was probably a result of wearing shoes. Yeah, I’m going with that. 😊 ---
