Allright so the wannano"s are putting on this wedding. Just jr is getting married. So far I’ve been lucky . The only Question I’ve been asked is “How much nuts should we get.” So in gathering all the facts I asked myself “What kind of nuts are you supposed to get for a wedding.” My wife thinks party nuts while I think it should be mixed nuts. The bride doesn’t care if there are nuts or mints at all and only agreed to it because my sister in law insisted that she was going to make the mints. Ps This will probably be one of the few traditional things at the wedding. So ,what kind of nuts are you supposed to serve at the cake table with the mints? ---

Those candy coated ‘jordan almonds’ are traditional, I think, for small favors that the guests can take home. Perhaps something other than almonds? I personally would love a doubling up of the almonds but cashews would be good too. Keep in mind that nuts are a common food allergen when placing the bowls. ---

_So ,what kind of nuts are you supposed to serve at the cake table with the mints?_ Something that won’t leave oil and salt on your fingers where it can then easily wind up on your clothes. That is one reason the candy coated nuts are popular at formal occasions. ---

They serve as a memento of the happy day because those nuts will outlast the pyramids. 😃 We had several little_bonbonieres_ tucked away in the family china closet, seemingly for decades. Once those almonds are dried and candied, nothing seems to affect them: bugs, humidity, time, swings in temperature. Seemingly artificial-looking, yet edible, but who’d want to. They’re real jaw-breakers, and yukky, to boot. ---

I’ve been to several weddings,actually I have to be dragged to them, but I’ve never seen a candied nut at any of them. Not even when I was managing the clubhouse at the local country club. So where do you find them in bulk? ---

Just FYI, in the UK at least, sugared almonds are traditionally given to female guests at weddings, usually only a few wrapped in some frilly material and placed at the female places on the tables at the reception meal. I haven’t had chance to go find a cite, but I’ve always thought they were a traditional fertility charm (they’re rather egg shaped after all). ob
