I think about them and giggle everytime I catch a glimpse of this show. Heh heh heh.
Dumped fuel never gets anywhere near the ground. Jet A1 is extremely volatile and evaporates very quickly. There is also a minimum height at which fuel may be dumped (except in extreme emergencies), just to be even more certain that none reaches the ground.
Thanks for the info, **Dr Lao ** and qwest.
I can just imagine the conversation between the guy and the air marshal,
“Sir, CALM DOWN”
“I"M CAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLM!!!”
My mental image of this guy now looks exactly like Albert Brooks.
Yo G, not sence - cent.
You straight-up daw
I actually know a guy, former co-worker and friend, who was one of those drunken assholes. He was on a flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles when it happened. He was on Prozac or something and drank god only knows how many mixed drinks. I don’t know exactly what he did because he doesn’t remember the details but they put the bird down in Tokyo and pulled his idiot ass off of the plane.
He remembers getting unruly and belligerant with the staff on the ground and throwing stuff all over the place. This was pre-911 or it would have been worse for him. They finally managed to get him into a hospital and sedate him. Then they called his wife at 4 am and told her that he was being detained in Japan and he had suffered a mental breakdown. She called me hysterical so I went over to their place and spent the next few hours making phone calls to try and track him down and posing as the President of our company to “authorize all charges” so he could be released.
Sadly, it was only down hill from there for my pal. His wife finally left him and he lost a couple of jobs in a row. He’s now, at the age of 37, unemployed and living with his parents. Anti-depressants and alcohol don’t mix, kiddies.
Haj
HBO Real Sports just did a piece on a former pro football player who was suffering from bi-polar disorder. They recounted a time, in a manic phase, where he was on a flight and could not be calmed down.
This mas was abusive, incoherent, and as a bonus, was around 6’8" and weighed about 300 lbs.
THIS plane, however, flew to it’s final destination and had the authorities meet the plane.
What gives?
