I feel your pain-local cities and towns here in the Boston area have stopped filling potholes! Case in point-Newton, MA (upper class suburb). my wife’s 5 -year old car now has 4 bent rims-so bent that the tires cannot be balanced-from driving on newton’s shitty roads! This in a toen that is spending $250 million on a new high school 9that they didn’t need). ---

I’m completely and wholly in favor of taxing things that no human being ever has to have in the entirety of their lives. It is so completely easy to avoid paying that tax – unlike income or property tax, or the county’s old assets tax on investments – that the complaints about it leave me cold.
