# NY Ren Faire - Interested?

**Nemo,** , the site accessed by the link I furnish in an earlier post says the dates are from mid-August to mid-September. So don’t count yourself out yet.
I’m still lobbying for a Sunday, as any Sunday is good for me.

Well, then, how does August 3rd sound to everyone? It’s the first weekend in August, which leaves **Dave** in, and it’s one of the weekends **Little Nemo** quoted as being off already. Anyone have problems with that weekend, or do we have a majority here?

August 3 is fine with me, as far as I know. Planning this far ahead makes me twitchy – so much can happen in four months! But anyway. That date’s fine with me.

Yeah, I’d only listed the people that had confirmed for the August 3rd date. The day may put a few more people out of the running (though I’m seriously hoping NOT)

I live unspeakably close to the NY Rennaisance Faire. Here’s the Straight Dope on getting there.
You can take NJ Transit trains. [Sunday Train Schedule](http://www.nj.com/njtransit/mai_w_su.html) will take you from Hoboken, and some Northern New Jersey towns, and let you off in Tuxedo. From there, it’s a 10 minute drive to the Faire Grounds. Here is the [Saturday Schedule](http://www.nj.com/njtransit/mai_w_sa.html) as well.
In addition, you can get from Port Authority to Tuxedo, NY ( the town that abuts the Sterling Forest land ) by taking the [[http://www.shortlinebus.com](http://www.shortlinebus.com)"]Short Line Bus Service](
[url). Click on the left area, under **PDF Schedules to and from NYC** , then enter “Tuxedo Rt. 17 shelter” as the destination, and the scheduling will come up. There are Sunday and Saturday buses.
I am e-mailing the Faire personnel now to see if there are indeed shuttles to get you from Rt. 17 ( where both the Short Line AND NJ Transit Main Line trains leave you off ) up to the Faire Grounds. It is NOT a walk, it’s a drive. Perhaps…hmm…5 miles give or take, and virtually ALL uphill getting there. I’ll post in here when I get the answer.

I’m 15 minutes from the Faire grounds, we go most years. It is a totally amazing day to spend…and I’d like to throw in my name as a tentative. Never pass up a chance to meet some more wonderful Enwye Dopers !!

**Cartooniverse** , I’m opening up _Casa Dave-Guy_ as a pre-Faire gathering place and a post-Faire unwinding place. 20 - 30 minutes drive time from my front door. I’ll be emailing all the participants with directions to my house as the date gets closer. Bus and train lines stop very near my place, also (although driving would be preferable, frankly). This will keep all of us from trying to find each other at the Faire, which is bound to be crowded.
I didn’t mention, either, that my entire family is going (Me, Mrs. Dave-Guy, **Sakura** and **Halford the Human Eel** [sup]TM[/sup]). And we have a mini-van, so we can probably fit at least three or four more and not have to worry so much about getting lost.
It would be great if you were there, man.
