So what you’re saying is that there’s a possibility that he hadn’t seen the movie, and therefore had no frame of reference? I see where you’re going with this. By that logic, it seems likely that most times that jokes go over someone’s head, the wooshee isn’t familiar with the reference, or else they would have gotten the joke. Gotcha. Allow me to retort. Your mistake was assuming the movie was popular enough, and that particular quote memorable enough, that not recognizing it was wooooosh-worthy. I’m denying the wooooosh-worthiness of your quote. ---

Perhaps it’s best if we merely agree to disagree, with all due apologies for this thread shitting. You see, _your_ mistake is assuming that the movie was not popular enough, and in thinking that that particular quote wasn’t memorable enough, and in denying its woosh worthiness. I happen to believe that it is. IMHO it is in the top 5 most quotable and recognizable movies (on this board) of the past 15 years. Maybe you should take a poll. ---

They don’t particularly need the numbers for that matter. And why bother with uniforms? Of course, the vast majority of teams seem to think there’s some sort of “need” to put the names on the unis. They feel the need to make identifying the players easier for the fans. ---
