# NYC Area Dopers October 8th & 9th get together

Hello fellow NYC dopers.
October 8th and 9th [Open House New York](http://www.openhousenewyork.org/ohny_website/start.html) is having their annual weekend of free events. They take people to places not normally open to the public and have tours.

Why why _why_ must all the Dopefests be held on days when I have something else to do that I can’t get out of?
Well, in all honesty, October 8th I plan on recovering from a monster hangover, but I’m free October 9th. 🙂 All I would request is skipping the high places, unless somebody wants to hold my hand and assure me that I am _not_ going to plummet to my death despite the fact that I’m still _inside_ the building.

Zebra, I know both first and second hand how difficult it is to coordinate these soirees. In the interest of keeping your sanity, you have my firm commitment that (barring death) you can put down (or etch in granite) the following:

Um, I won’t be able to make it this year as I’ll be located in parts more distant [sub] and hostile[/sub].
However, I plan on being home for a few weeks when I get back, and I’m thinking of throwing an impromptu “Summer of '06 DopeFest” in the NYC area.
That, and my MonDopeFest in Glacier Nat’l Park the same summer. Oh yeah, it’ll be a party-a-week around me. 😃

Have they bought [Florence La Badie](http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=pif&GRid=7688868&PIgrid=7688868&PIcrid=64718&pt=Florence+La+Badie&ShowCemPhotos=Y&) a gravestone yet? I’m not going back there till the poor girl has a gravestone.
