NYC Police Cops Bloody 84 Year-Old Asian Man for Jaywalking

I don’t give a shit how little of the local language you speak. You don’t (1) just walk away from a cop, and (2) shove them when they grab you.

And from the pictures, it sure doesn’t look like the guy was beat. His face isn’t bruised or swollen. He appears to have a single cut, probably from falling on the side walk. He certainly doesn’t look dazed in the video. More like pissed.

Your own link says “Wong handed the cop his license, but then tried to take it back when the cop started writing him a summons”. Since you brought up “common sense”, how much common sense does one need to have to know that when you are getting ticketed, you don’t take off? That shoving a cop priobably isn’t a good idea? And you don’t wrestle a cop for your license?

But…but the N.Y. Post, an unimpeachable source of journalistic goodness thinks the cops behaved badly. What more do you need?

Without conclusive video evidence one can’t come to a final judgment, but it’s worth noting that even “frail” elderly people who lose it can put up a lot of fight and require multiple police/security personnel to subdue them (a phenomenon those who’ve worked in nursing homes can attest to).

there were at least 5 officers there. 2 of them could have bear-hugged the guy and hand cuffed him and taken him to the precinct for processing.

Seriously though the police should invest in an electronic ‘speaking’ phrasebook with common crimes. New York gets lots of tourists, should it really be compulsary for them to speak perfect English?.
