Beer, good conversation and cool peeps or a trip to the ER? If it were up to me I’d be at Area 51, but Houseman would flip his lid if I went out instead of going to see a doctor. P.S. I’m not dying or anything. My gyn cannot see me until May and my problem needs more immediate attention. (I’ve had nothing but bad news on the health front for the last 3 months. I’m getting old and I’m falling apart.) ---

This Thursday I will be unable to attend the festivities, if any. If someone wants to take the initiave, they can suggest a place. Also, to have some new people come to these things so if you’re in the NYC area and can make it on a Thursday, just on by. Unfortunately, since we all know the people that regularly show up by this point, we don’t usually advertise our presence at the resturant. If you show up, you can look for a table of 6-8 people and ask if they are the Straight Dope party (or if you are uncomfortable with that, you can ask for the Cecil Adams party). You can also post or e-mail one or more of us, and we’ll look out for you. ---

As nobody seems to be picking a place, I’m going to suggest that we return to the scene of the crime, Chumleys, 86 Bedford Street (corner of Barrow Street), in the West Village ( [http://www.chumleys.citysearch.com/](http://www.chumleys.citysearch.com/) ). Let’s meet at the bar starting around 6:30, and after a bunch of people trickle in we’ll get a table. See you there! ---
