Disappointed that CHINOOK was not accepted today (7 Aug). It’s not capitalized when it means the fish, so it should have been good. ---

I thought so too, especially since coho _was_ accepted. Turns out the latter is based on an adjective, whereas the former is based on a proper noun, which I suppose is the distinction. ---

Yes, but there are other accepted words that are sometimes capitalized and sometimes not. I can’t think of any examples off-hand, but I know they’re there. ---

Good examples. And continuing the country names theme, CHINA and CHAD. I’m sure there are other sometimes-capitalized words that are not country names that are accepted too. ---

Surprisinglly, this is the first time CHINOOK has been a possible word. HABOOB was rejected at first, so maybe next time. Why does Discourse now insist on moving spoilered words to their own line? ---

It happened at the same time it only became necessary to hit return once to begin a new paragraph. Gonna take a while to get used to that and stop hitting return twice. ---

I came here to comment on two words I tried that weren’t accepted, COIGN (it’s in M-W, OED, Collins and more) and CHINOOK, which IMHO should be spoilered, since it contains two accepted words and rhymes with several others. ---
