NYT Spelling Bee drives me crazy

Maybe PARATHA? That was disallowed for a few years before becoming acceptable.

Could be. I’m sure it will show up again.

It was also my last word before QB, but somehow it just popped into my so-called brain while I was doing something else. The only time I recall seeing it is in company with words like EXEUNT, AGUE, and PRITHEE. I’d be surprised if they’re in Sam’s word list.

EXEUNT and AGUE have both appeared.

I’ve been maintaining a list of the last few words remaining to get to Queen Bee because I noticed they repeat. So I tried mononym from that list and it was recognized but I also have mononymy and that wasn’t, though I think it was within the past few weeks

I was really annoyed today that they didn’t accept CORM. Standard English words are not accepted but obscure Asian plants are.

Today’s (Saturday) puzzle contains the pangram PHILADELPHIA. Of course, it’s not accepted, but it’s kind of amazing such a long one is there.

I entered it just for fun!

I was a little surprised PILLHEAD wasn’t in it, but I guess it’s pejorative. Ish.

I’m surprised that HIPPED wasn’t accepted.

Heh. Just for fun, I entered PILLED and was surprised to see that it was accepted.

Once again, no HIPPED or HALIDE. My roof and my salt collection are miffed.

DADDIED should be a word too

Yeah, that’s what sweaters become.

Today is just an exercise in finding compound words. Snore

Yep. Missing birds: ANHINGA, GALAH

If anyone wants another game extremely similar to Spelling Bee, the Oregonian has one that I think does not require a subscription. It may require a login, I don’t know, since I do subscribe to this newspaper. Anyway, the name is WordFlower; link to it found here:

I got to QB today before 7 am, despite my old nemesis TEFF.

I always try to get to Genius without hints, and go as far beyond as possible without them. But if I’m stumped for a while, I’ll use Spelling Bee Buddy, and usually get to QB with its help.

Yes, I only got it because it had been used not that long ago. I also always forget MENTEE. Still no luck on TIFFIN though.

Same - I try to get to Genius, find at least one pangram, and try to get a Bingo (if there is one) before going to SBB to see what’s left.

ITTY (first part of itty bitty) counts

NITTY (nitty gritty) doesn’t.

I thought of you…
