I wonder why ATOMY is rejected. Surely it is that obscure.
Anyone doing the Spelling Bee today and notice some weirdness? I started at about 7am Eastern Time and had five more words to go. But then I went back in and the letters all changed. Previously the pangram was machine but it’s a different one now and I haven’t found it yet.
Yes indeed, that happened to me as well. My first guess was the pangram, and then I closed it to save it for later, and imagine my surprise…
There’s some talk in the comments section about weirdness but they may be talking about something else.
BTW, not that I mind. I like spending time on the puzzle.
I think I would mind it if I’d gotten twenty-plus words in, but this was fine.
There are two pangrams today, one that you found and another one. I haven’t noticed any weirdness – maybe I started to late.
ETA: Just went back to it and it’s totally different! I was already at genius. Grr.
I made it to Genius about 45 minutes ago, and just now checked back…nothing had changed, as far as I could tell. I got both machine and mechanic as pangrams…thought I had another one with chimenea, but it wasn’t accepted.
Then I refreshed the page, and it’s a totally new puzzle. WTAF?
That was my experience.

This kind of thing has happened at least once before. It’s been a couple-three years, but it did happen to me once. And I haven’t refreshed the page, so if it weren’t for you guys, I still wouldn’t know.
I am often up until midnight and get started on the Bee before I drift off to sleep but I fell asleep early last night and missed the fake start. I managed to get to Genius fairly quickly today with the U in the middle puzzle
It doesn’t accept unagi today.
Luckily, SB solvers aren’t a bunch of anal people with OCD or there would be quite the uproar over the issues today.
Some of those posting in the comments section of the Spelling Bee Forum were really unhappy. One pointed out that some players might have gotten to Genius or even Queen Bee status and closed the puzzle only tomorrow discovering that their winning streak was over.
I’m shocked by this unexpected turn of events.
