Ha! I wonder why it’s disallowed – it’s a real word, right?
Why not LIABLY?
The back and forth is so weird. Obviously I’m ignorant about how games are constructed but wouldn’t they have a standard acceptable word list and then just stick with it?
The way I make peace with it is to tell myself the acceptable word list varies to keep me on my toes.
Still no goddamn LIANA
Not a word, according to the credible online dictionaries (e.g., Collins, Mirriam Webster, Cambridge, American Heritage).
I got to Genius with no help, as usual, and then to QB using only the grids at SBB, all before noon. Better than average for me.
You would think so, but I watched some panel event on Youtube awhile back about the Bee and it sounded more like Sam had a team of friends who did the puzzles in advance. They would print out their answers, and then Sam would hang them on the wall and throw darts at them. Okay, I made up the last part, but the process did sound rather odd.
As I said about a week ago in this thread:
I bet he used the dreaded ‘curated’ word.
I think he may have. Could have been worse, he could have called it artisanal…
Still no cavitating, actinic, or nictitating. I think there were a few more that frustrated me today, but I’ve forgotten what they were.
I tried the first one on your list and was so proud of myself for finding it.
Yeah, those were the big omissions. So annoying.
I came in to complain about cavitating.
Today was the first time that CAVITATING was a possible word. CAVITATE has been rejected six or seven times.
Nor a close cousin, NICTATING .
Today I learned that NONWORK is a word, according to M-W. Cambridge and OED spell it with a hyphen.
Yeah, I plugged that one in on a lark, and hey, guess what.
I respect Sam less for including it.
